More A-Listers Head to Apple Streaming

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson Headline Apple’s Project Artemis

There’s little doubt after the past several years that Streaming entertainment content is not only here to stay, but here to play! Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and even Apple have all jumped into the deep end of scripted content production and it’s a gambit that has paid off.

Indeed Netflix has garnered more than 150 Emmy wins, and in 2022 Apple became the first ever streaming Producer to win Best Picture at the Oscars for CODA.

Fresh off this historic victory, the production team at Apple are not resting on their laurels, but instead sinking their time and money, at least $100 million reportedly, into their next project, Project Artemis, directed by Jason Bateman.

Bateman is no stranger to streaming production, having directed Here Comes the Flood and Ozark for Netflix.

Not much is known about Project Artemis so far, and Apple is keeping details tightly under wraps, but it’s been reported by Deadline and others that the film is "set against the space race." Curious film enthusiasts also search for plot clues in the title, Project Artemis, which some have noted is the name of one NASA mission to return humans to the moon. Others point out that the title is also the name of a previous mission to establish a long-lasting NASA moon base.

In any case, to get Project Artemis off the ground Bateman and Apple seem to have no problem putting, as the saying goes, the “Bucks in the Buck Rogers” of it all, and they're also putting some Avenger level star power into the project.

Set to join Bateman’s cast are none other than Captain America himself, Chris Evans and his Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson, known for her role as the notorious assassin turned superhero, Black Widow.

Evans and Johansson are known to have a close friendship beyond their on screen team-ups, and fans have been captivated by their on screen chemistry. In addition to their Avengers roles, the pair have announced team ups before, but little has transpired to bring them to the screen together again, until now. Pairing the two popular culture superstars is sure to bring genre fans in droves.

Apple has had some success in bringing epic stories to life, having released Science Fiction icon Isaac Asimov’s Foundation in 2021, and Simon Kinberg and David Weil’s Invasion also in 2021.

There is no word yet about when viewers and fans can expect Project Artemis to be released, but with Bateman in the director’s chair and superstars Evans and Johansson on board, Apple seems to have used their resources well to ensure the interwebs are abuzz with every new development.
